To the category: Telescopes / Refractors
SIGETA Volans 70/400 is a short-focus refractor with a reasonable objective lens diameter (70 mm). It is supplied with two eyepieces, a close-focus eyepiece generating 67x magnification and a 20x long-focus eyepiece.
With the diagonal lens mounted in front of the spectacle assembly, it produces a 'mirror' image - horizontally reflected but not vertically inverted. With a rotating lens it gives the image familiar to the human eye: thanks to this accessory the instrument is also suitable for ground-based observation.
SIGETA's Volans telescope rail focuser has a fixed internal diameter of 1.25" and makes it possible to fit any desired eyepieces with the appropriate fitting diameters.
The telescope comes complete with a quarter-inch threaded table tripod and a 5x24 optical finder to help you select an interesting object of interest for your research.
The Volans 70/400 refractor is lightweight and compact: suitable for a child as a first telescope or for an adult looking for an easy-to-use derivative. In addition to observational astronomy, this high-aperture instrument gives you the opportunity to see the disc of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn and to discern the contours of the Ocean Burevias and the smaller craters and mountain ranges of the Moon.
