The SIGETA StarQuest 102/1100 Alt-AZ is a Newton long-focus reflector on an alto azimuthal mount intended primarily for visual observation. It allows many deep space objects, lunar craters, Mercury phases, atmospheric phenomena on Jupiter and Saturn's rings to be observed in detail.
The telescope is equipped with main spherical lens of 102 mm diameter and has an adjustment mark. The focal length of 1100 mm with a tube length of about 50 cm is obtained with the help of a corrector. It allows large magnifications close to the maximum useful 204x with additional eyepieces (e.g. 5 mm). High-quality, kit eyepieces, 25mm Kelner and 10mm Plesla, help to achieve sharp, high-contrast images at 44x and 110x magnification respectively. The Barlow lens is able to triple the magnification: 44x - 132x, 110x - 330x. An eyefinder of a collimator type can be used when searching for celestial objects.
The Alt-azimuth mount pivots the telescope around two axes: the horizontal axis of altitude and the vertical axis of azimuth. Observation is achieved by simultaneously turning the telescope around the two axes at a variable speed. Mounted on a tripod, the level helps in achieving an even positioning of the reflector. The tripod is height-adjustable. The tripod has rubber coated feet and retractable bottom tips provide rigidity on all surfaces.
The telescope will appeal even to professionals. The optical features, straightforward operation and elegant design make this model stand out from the rest.
