The PRIZE NOVUM 20x-1280x (carrying case) is a compact and handy school-level portable microscope. Due to its two types of illumination, it can be used to examine transparent specimens and flat non-transparent objects - tree leaves, paper sheets, coins, stamps, tissue pieces.

It is equipped with two 5x, 16x broadfield eyepieces and a Barlow lens, as well as a 4x, 10x and 40x objective power in the threepiece revolver. By using a Barlow lens, the overall magnification of the oculars and objective lenses can be increased twice: consequently, the maximum magnification of the SIGETA PRIZE NOVUM microscope is 1,280x.

The maximum magnification allows observation of micron-sized objects, however, choosing an observation area without a Barlow lens and a 4x working objective is preferable: in this case, the view is broader. Structure of insect bodies and contours of plant cells can be examined at a magnification of 20-80x with a 5x eyepiece and a 4x or 16x objective lens. If a plant specimen is weakly painted, you can use iodine or food dyes to colour the specimen.

The PRIZE NOVUM microscope backlighting system is well worth being recalled a second time. The upper and lower LED backlights can be switched on simultaneously or individually; the brightness of each is controlled smoothly by a wheel on the microscope stand. The LED backlight is powered by two different methods: by mains power or by ordinary finger-sized batteries, commercially available in every hardware shop.

The SIGETA PRIZE NOVUM 20x-1280x (carrying case) kit comprises all you need for starting your immersion into the microcosm: a microscope knife for making thin slices, microscopic glasses, tweezers for carefully arranging specimens, adhesive medium for creating slides and much more. The microscope with set of accessories is packed in a lightweight but hard plastic case. It can be taken to the examination outside area: the microscope is not connected to a power outlet at all with the autonomous power mode.
