The SIGETA MS-249 LED 20x Bino Stereo is a simple yet highly functional 20x stereo microscope with superior quality glass optics. It generates a contrast color image with a sufficient degree of sharpness and has an almost 8-millimeter field of vision at the object. The stereo effect occurs due to the stereo objective lens - more precisely, two lenses positioned at an angle of about 15° to each other. Doubled by the objective lenses, the oculars magnify the image 10 times more: the result is a 20x magnification. The light loss through the optical channels of the microscope is minimized by applying a coat of antireflection to the lenses.
Originally, the model was not intended as an instrumental microscope: MS-249 was meant to fulfill only educational and leisure functions. But due to the extended working distance (70 mm) and a reliable focal mechanism the instrument occupied the niche of a budget repair microscope.
The SIGETA MS-249 Stereomicroscope also helps in painstaking handicraft work - making mosaics, wire weaving. Even restoration work under a microscope is much more comfortable than with a magnifying glass, since binocular vision and two hands will be involved.
Microscope ocular tubes are not mounted in the head vertically, but at a 45° angle: this positioning is comfortable for sitting and standing work (the main thing is to fix the device at the required height). The focusing device is moved up/down by rotating either of the two symmetrical knobs: thus, the optical unit begins to move smoothly in relation to the objective table. Illumination of the specimens is achieved by means of a 1 W light bulb: it supplies a homogeneous illumination of the cold spectrum, which does not spoil the colors.
No special servicing or maintenance for the equipment is required. The LED lights do not burn out, and replacing the backlight batteries is a matter of minutes: the battery compartment opens with a light push on the lid. Adjusting the interpupillary distance and sharpness is simple: even primary school-age children will quickly learn to handle the microscope.
