The MB-140 40x-1000x is a school level microscope intended specifically for the examination of specimens in transmitted, reflected and mixed light. Essential features include achromatic lenses, two-stage focusing, LED illumination, mechanical slide engine and two types of power supply ( autonomous and mains powered).

Another advantage of the 25x ocular kit is that it allows the 1000x magnification to be achieved with a combination of [25x eyepiece + 40x «dry» objective] without the use of immersion. Certainly, the image reproduction will be worse than when using [10x eyepiece + 100x(oil) lens], but the user does not need to be proficient in using immersion liquids or setting up an illumination system in the ideal way.

The MB-140 40x-1000x objective table is very spacious (9.5cm x 9.5cm) with a smooth matte surface which allows slides to move smoothly without any slipping or jerking. "Out of the box" the table is equipped with two clamps: they' re convenient to use when examining in reflected light delicate oversized specimens such as leaves, banknotes, scraps of cloth, etc. Yet the kit also includes detachable micrometer calipers: they can be easily installed and fixed to the table with a screwdriver.

The focus system is distinguished by a vast range of coarse settings (15mm) and the smooth movement of the fine-tuning knob. The macro and micro focus knobs are coaxially positioned on each side of the body and are easy to operate with the thumb and forefinger of one hand.

The upper LED illuminator is removable and mounted on a flexible, tilt-adjustable tripod: it is rated for the examination of non-transparent items at the lowest magnification. The illuminator is USB connected to the microscope and does not have a separate intensity regulator.

The lower LED is fixed into the collector frame and is fitted with a limiter so that the brightness can be continuously adjusted. Both LED lights can be used separately or together creating combined illumination for the study of medium transparency specimens. For varying the dimensions of the light spot, a annular aperture with holes of different diameters is installed beneath the objective table.
