The 10x, 40x and 100x achromatic objective lens set and the 10x and 16x wide-angle eyepieces provide a broad magnification range of 100 to 1600x. Carefully adjusting the focus at any magnification gives you a detailed and clear picture. The only restriction is that the 100x lens can only be operated using immersion oil.
The focus mechanism with separate control is characterised by a fine pitch and a wide range of movement. The coarse focus flywheel's rotation moves the objective table up/down within a maximum of 20mm; the fine focus knob's rotation controls the objective table's position in the range of 2mm. To prevent collision between the objective and the cover glass at high magnifications, the stage is equipped with a screw lock.
The dimensions of the stage are 12x12cm. For mechanical slide movement along the stage table top micrometric slide calipers are mounted on it (with a vernier scale for measuring microdistances).
A LED backlight is also installed in the collector lens mounting: the backlighting provides balancing illumination and does not require bulb replacement for long periods of time. Lighting intensity is adjusted by turning a wheel at the housing base and the light beam diameter is set by selecting the ring aperture beneath the stage.
The microscope housing and focusing mechanism details are constructed of a strong metallic alloy; all mechanical joints are precision-engineered. The eyepiece allows free rotation around the vertical axis - its mechanism can be loosened or tightened by means of a special locking screw.
Despite the fact that there are microscopes with more extensive equipment and more advanced optical system, the microscope SIGETA MB-102 is in high demand among consumers: for someone it is a reasonable investment in business, for others it is an affordable tool for self-development.
