SIGETA ELEMENTARY 40x–400x is a student microscope designed for examining biological specimens using brightfield microscopy with transmitted light. This is an updated LED version that now includes a lower LED illumination module in the kit. In standard configuration, the microscope provides three magnification levels: 40x, 100x, and 400x.
The monocular head is mounted vertically, but its angle can be adjusted thanks to the tilting arm. The instrument body is made of metal – strong, reliable, and virtually unbreakable, ensuring long service life even with heavy use. The arm is connected to the base with a hinge mechanism that allows tilting up to 45°. In any position, the microscope remains stable thanks to the weighted horseshoe-shaped base with non-slip feet. This design makes the instrument an excellent solution for equipping biology classrooms: the microscope can be easily adapted to the observer's height and working position – sitting, standing, or during demonstrations.
Specimen illumination is provided in two ways: using a plano-concave mirror that directs light from external sources, or an LED illuminator. The LED illuminator became an important upgrade, providing convenient and modern lighting. The LED illuminator features a brightness control and runs on a built-in battery. Its charging kit consists of a power adapter and a separate USB cable, which can also be used to connect to a power bank or other external power source. Both components are installed under the stage alternately, depending on needs.
The microscope's focusing mechanism has a dual-sided control unit with separate coarse and fine focusing knobs. It's worth noting that fine focusing is not a common feature for school microscopes. Focus adjustment is achieved by vertical movement of the optical assembly. To prevent collision between the objective and slide during focusing, the microscope is equipped with a screw-type limiter for the optical assembly travel.
The stage is equipped with two metal clips for securing microscope slides. Directly beneath it is a disc diaphragm with five apertures of different diameters. Depending on the selected aperture, you can adjust image contrast and the size of the illuminated area. The stage has additional holes for installing an optional mechanical stage, which is used for precise positioning and smooth movement of specimens under examination.
