SIGETA WF 10x/18mm - achromatic 10x eyepiece with a mounting diameter of 23.2mm, designed for most school and laboratory microscopes.
The eyepiece is constructed according to the 2nd Köllner scheme, with an optical system consisting of three elements: an achromatic doublet in place of the eye lens and a biconvex field lens with different curvature surfaces. The loss of light while passing through such a system is negligible - moreover, the external lens is enlightened.
Kelner eyepieces are considered to be one of the best options amongst the available models: at quite affordable cost, they provide excellent image sharpness and natural colour reproduction to the very edges of the field of view.
A 10x eyepiece (or a pair) is often included with the microscope. If your optical device is equipped with a powerful 16x or 20x eyepiece, it is worth purchasing a 10x eyepiece as well: this will enable you to observe a wider area on the object. The SIGETA WF10x has a linear field of view of 1.8 cm making it a WideField eyepiece.
The processing quality of the optical glass and metal components of the eyepiece housing is at an appropriate level. The back face of the frame adjacent to the eyepiece tube and the entire upper part of the frame have a scratch-resistant, roughened surface that is also fingerprint-free. The eyepiece marking are engraved, meaning that the markings do not fade with time or under the influence of chemicals.
The SIGETA WF 10x/18mm eyepiece has an exit pupil extension which is quite comfortable for observation. However, if you wear glasses to correct astigmatism or other visual defects, it is better to choose glasses with an eye relief of 20 mm or more for continuous work with the microscope.
