The SIGETA MCMOS 3100 3.1Mp is a USB camera with accessory kit designed for connection to any type of microscope: teaching, laboratory (biological) and instrument (stereoscopic). It is connected to a PC or notebook via USB 2.0 and does not require a separate power supply for its operation.
The MCMOS 3100 3.1MP digital eyepiece matrix measures 6.55 x 4.92mm at 2048x1536, meaning that each pixel has a side length of 3.2μm. The "large" pixel signifies the increased photodiode capacity, and this is directly related to the device's sensitivity. The Aptina CMOS sensor's photodiodes take in all visible light; the infrared range is cut off by the built-in infrared filter. As a result, photos and videos captured with the camera are highly detailed and produce natural colour rendering.
The shutter speed can be adjusted within the range of 0.244 ms to 2 s, and white balance is controlled manually or automatically. With good lighting conditions at the workplace, all this enables achieving interesting photographic effects and sharp images of micro objects by light field microscopy methods. WARNING The MCMOS series is not designed for fluorescence photography.
The MCMOS 3100 3.1Mp USB camera operates with ToupView multifunction software (installation file is included on the disc). ToupView allows real-time image display from the microscope to a projector screen or PC monitor, high-speed video recording, storage and editing. A calibration slide with micropatterning is included for scaling and measurement through the software interface.
The C-Mount housing, optical block and adapters are made of a rugged metal alloy; they have no moveable parts or protruding parts. For these reasons the reliability and longevity of the camera is assured.
